A Special Peek into Our Day
Wonder just what we do each day…what time is lunch…what hours does my child rest? We want to give you a peek into a “typical” day’s schedule, remembering flexibility and spontaneity can be fun and exciting!! (Weather and temperaments permitting!)
7:30 am – 9am Free play, children are arriving at various times. Breakfast starts about 7:45 and is over at 8:30. Children have the option of playing with toys, reading books, or just visiting with their friends.
9:15 am-11:30am 2, 3 & 4 year olds will begin our preschool program. The younger children play games, working on colors, counting, ABC’s, singing & dancing. The older children have a more structure learning program in the separate classroom. Our littlest “morning nappers” are put down for their morning naps. 10:45 is a light morning snack. The groups then come together for additional Arts & Crafts and Center Time, as well as outdoor play. (Our curriculum theme continues throughout the week in class and play)
11:30am – 12pm Group Circle Time. All children, no matter the age, are invited for this special reading time as we prepare for lunch.
12pm – 12:30pm LUNCH
12:30pm – 1:00pm Free play after eating.
1:00pm – 1:30pm Getting settled in for nap / quiet resting time.
1:15pm - 3:15pm The older children who rest/sleep on mats may watch a DVD movie till about 3:15. Many often fall asleep. This is a quiet time for all.
3:30pm – 5:30pm Children begin waking about 3:15 - 4:00. Those still sleeping will wake naturally. Snack time. Free play and exploration. Sometimes, around 5pm, we may choose to watch a short educational DVD, read some stories or play indoor games (especially in the chillier weather) and get settled down for mom or dad pick-up.
